Almost all of us are guilty of wasting money somewhere down the line. Although many of us do value the money and avoid burning the pocket, no one would argue about the human tendency to save less and spend more.
Here are top 10 tips to save money:
Say no to automatic subscription: I’m not going to name the type of subscriptions, but it is a common way of spending more than saving. An auto subscription, be it of any kind, automatically renews, even if you don’t wish to carry on for some time. So, avoid this habit of keeping the auto subscription on, may be you would find a way to get through a week or two without it and save some amount.
Save the extra bucks: Partyyy!!! Yes, that’s what we generally say when we receive money from an unexpected source. What’s wrong in saving that money, rather than getting over excited and spending all of it on something that was avoidable?
Don’t forget your lunch: Have you ever wondered how much of a difference you can make if you were to eat home-made lunch every day, rather than going to a cafe or a restaurant on a couple of days here and there during the course of the month? Well, it generally costs you around 5-10 per cent of the salary. Am I asking you to be miserly?
Freeze that spending button: What about trying to give up your favorite junk for a few days? Try to target a few days every month, wherein you can stop the spending button completely to reduce the cost.
Pay your bills asap: It’s again a part of human nature to overlook things. We often keep one or two bills unpaid till the 10th or 15th of every month and end up realizing that we have chewed more than we can swallow. The best way is to pay your bills in the first week itself and get your calculations right.
Stop the addiction: Have a thorough look at your routine and observe what you are addicted to. If it is smoking or drinking, you don’t need to observe that, rather give it up quickly. But, if it is something else, you should carefully observe the habit and try to quit it in a phased manner.
Be a monitor: No, I’m not asking you to be the class monitor. What I mean is to review your wallet from time to time. Don’t be a lazy crook, try to be proactive and take it day by day and week by week, without thinking you would manage whatever comes your way.
Avoid using a credit card: One of the worst problems of this generation is not knowing your spending-capacity. It all happens due to the usage of credits cards or similar products. If you can give up using a credit card, you will be on your way to save much more money.
Charity: It may sound absurd if you don’t have faith, but charity is the best way of increasing your wealth. If you take out some amount from your earnings at the end of each year and give it to the needy, the Almighty will help you during turbulent times.
Hidden pockets: Whenever you feel like having a little more money in your budget than you expected, do remember to hide some of it from your eyes. A hidden pocket would serve you well in such cases and whenever you run out of cash, you can fall back on it.
