Top 10 NGOs providing relief amid second wave of Covid-19

Covid-19 is still continuing to claim thousands of lives across India and healthcare workers are at the forefront of this fight. However, NGOs, NPOs and similar organisations too are sparing no effort in helping people tackle the pandemic.

Here are the top 10 organisations that have been providing relief amid the second wave of Covid-19.

  1. Hemkunt Foundation: Based in Gurgaon, the NGO has been distributing oxygen cylinders to Covid-19 patients.
  2. GiveIndia Foundation: Bengaluru-based GiveIndia Foundation has recently donated around 2000 oxygen concentrators to GKVK Covid Care Centre. It has also joined hands with start-ups and celebrities to ramp up its efforts dedicated towards Covid-19 patients.
  3. Milaap: The pandemic has also been taking a heavy toll on the poor and needy. In this light, Milaap is distributing around 1000 packets of food among homeless people. In addition to this, it has also been running food support programmes for Covid-19 patients.
  4. Daivik Foundation: Daivik Foundation has been donating oxygen concentrators and cylinders in hospitals. In collaboration with American Indian Foundation recently, it also set up an oxygen concentrator library in Kalkaji for Covid-19 patients across the national capital.
  5. Sewa International: An Indian-American non-profit organisation, Sewa International USA has raised around $4.7 million through social media. It aims to acquire oxygen concentrators and ship them to India as soon as possible.
  6. Ketto: Online crowd-funding platform Ketto.org has been collaborating with several renowned personalities like Bhumi Pedneker and Sania Mirza to help covid-19 patients financially as well as with oxygen cylinders.
  7. Khalsa Aid: The UK-based non-profit organisation is actively involved in India’s fight against the pandemic. It has also launched a helpline number through which patients in need of oxygen concentrators can contact them.
  8. Voice of Slum: An NGO based in Noida, Voice of Slum has been providing oxygen concentrators and cylinders to the Covid-19 patients living in slum areas, at Re 1. 
  9. Red Crescent Society of India: Aiming to provide Covid-19 relief, Red Crescent Society of India has been distributing oxygen cylinders at several mosques in Mumbai, for those who need it.
  10. KVN Foundation: As a part of its Mission Million Air Initiative, KVN Foundation has partnered with Portea and Razorpay to provide oxygen to the needy in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

While these organisations are going out of their way to do their part, as citizens, the best we can do is boost their initiatives through donations and if not, stay at home to contain the spread of the virus.
