This year’s IPL has been quite different, even though the wickets have been quite similar to that of India. The batters have enjoyed their time in the middle, but the pacers have also got assistance from the surface. Unlike in India, the batsmen have often got on a roll, especially with small boundaries in Sharjah and marginal threat of spinners. However, we have not only seen run fests, but many fascinating spells of fast bowling, which were probably lacking in India’s spin-friendly conditions.
The batsmen have earned their runs with only 3 of them going past the 500 mark so far. Here’s the list of top 10 batsmen in Dream11 IPL 2020:
1. KL Rahul: From the very first game, KL Rahul has been on song with his short selection, balance and power hitting. He has amassed 670 runs at a decent strike rate of around 130. He is surely the best batsman of IPL 2020.
2. David Warner: Having led his team into the playoffs, David Warner deserves high praise for being the lone warrior in his side at times. He has made 529 runs at an awesome strike rate of 137. The SRH skipper has looked fluent and he has struck some delightful shots throughout the tournament.
3. Ishan Kishan: It would be unfair to choose any other spot for Ishan Kishan, as he deserves to be in the top three. One may argue that Shikhar Dhawan has scored more run, but it’s not always about the number of runs. Ishan Kishan is a young batsman and it is hard to remember a game wherein he failed during this particular season. Moreover, he has a better average than the latter.
4. Shikhar Dhawan: Having finally woken up from the slumber, Shikhar Dhawan has struck gold with the bat in this season. He has made two centuries with a healthy average and a terrific strike rate. He occupies the number 4 spot.
5. D Padikkal: One of the most consistent batsmen of Dream11 IPL 2020, Paddikal has made 5 half centuries and the fact that he opens the innings has helped the youngster. He would definitely like to finish the IPL on a high and get over the 500 mark in the next match.
6. Quinton de Kock: The South African wicketkeeper batsman has been in top form and scored nearly 500 runs with a strike rate of around 140, along with an average of 37. There was never any doubt about the capability of de Kock and the opener has proved his worth at a crucial time when his opening partner has run out of steam.
7. Suryakumar Yadav: With an average of 42 and a strike rate of nearly 150, Suryakumar Yadav deserves all the praise. He has been in the form of his life, although he would have liked to score a century with such a prolific form. Yadav has served his team well with decent contributions in the hour of need.
8. Faf du Plessis: He would be happy with his own performance, although his team couldn’t get into the playoffs. Du Plessis was brilliant with the bat and batted beautifully all along with a prolific average and strike rate.
9. Virat Kohli: The Indian skipper wouldn’t be too chuffed with his numbers, although he did get enough runs to get into the top 10. Virat has set a great benchmark and anything less than extraordinary is considered a below par performance from him. However, his below par performances have helped him score 460 runs without coming into the notice of anyone.
10. Shubman Gill: The future of Indian cricket, Shubman Gill has scored 440 runs at 34 with a strike rate of 118. He has looked a compact player and his stroke making has been a defining aspect of his batting. He fittingly gets the 10th spot in Dream11 IPL 2020.
