Amidst the pandemic, the travel industry was the worst hit globally. However, as global Covid-19 cases are plummeting and the travel industry is pacing back to normalcy, the Official Airline Guide (OAG) has released the list of top ten busiest airports as of March 2022. The data has been calculated using the total airline capacity, as compared to the equivalent month of 2019 before the pandemic.
- Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: It is the primary international airport serving Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. The airport covers 4,700 acres of land with five parallel runways.
- Dubai International: It is the major airport serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The airport has been ranked second busiest in the world. It’s one of the busiest cargo airports in the world.
- Delhi: Indra Gandhi International Airport is the primary international airport serving Delhi. It is spread across 5,106 acres of land in the Palam region of the capital city. The airport has been the busiest in terms of passenger traffic since 2019.
- Guangzhou: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of the major airport of Guangzhou, Guangdong province in Southern China. The airport serves as a hub for China Southern Airlines.
- Dallas Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport: Dallas International Airport, also called DFW Airport is the primary international airport serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the North Texas region in the United States.
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport: Chicago O’Hare International Airport is also referred to as O’Hare Airport, Chicago. It is located on the Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois. The airport is operated by Chicago Department of Aviation, covering 7,627 acres of land.
- Denver International Airport: Denver International Airport is located in the Western United States, majorly serving metropolitan Denver, Colorado, as well as the greater Front Range Urban Corridor. It’s one of the largest airports of North America by land and the second largest in the world.
- Los Angeles International Airport: Los Angeles International, also referred to as LAX, is the primary international airport serving Los Angeles. It is located in Westchester neighborhood of Los Angeles. It is the closest airport to Westside and the South Bay.
- Tokyo International (Haneda): Tokyo International, also known as Haneda International Airport is one of the two international airports serving the greater Tokyo Area. Until 1978, Haneda was the primary international airport serving Tokyo.
- London Heathrow Airport: Heathrow airport, also called London airport is situated in England. It’s one of the six international airports serving London. It was the third busiest airports in the world in terms of passenger’s traffic in 2020.
