Here’s the list of 10 richest personalities in Bangladesh

Ever since Bangladesh achieved independence, the role of its businessmen in the country’s progress has been often highlighted. The success of business endeavors across multiple industry verticals has amped up the GDP with strengthened exports. Though there are a fair number of millionares in the country, here is the list of the top 10 richest personalities:-

1.Moosa Bin Shamsher
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DATCO group, a labor organization, Shamsher’s assets have a net worth of more than $12 billion. DATCO primarily deals with labor exports ranging from rural farmers to skilled construction site workers. The clientele includes premier companies based in South Korea, Japan, USA, Saudi Arabia, Italy, France, Netherlands, and UAE.

2.Salman F Rahman
One of the most successful businessmen of Bangladesh, Salman F Rahman is the Founder and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh’s biggest conglomerate, Beximco Group. He has been the advisor of private sector development affairs to the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for about a decade now. In addition, he has been the head of FBCCI, the country’s apex trade body. His assets are valued close to $600 million.

3.Syed Abul Hossain
Ex-Communication Minister of Bangladesh, from 2009 to 2012, Hossain is a lawmaker and Bangladeshi politician. An alumni of University of Dhaka, he founded SAHCO NGO and SAHCO International Ltd. N 1975. Currently, his assets are valued around $1 billion.

4.MA Hashem
With assets worth more than $500 million, MA Hashem is the Founder and Chairman of Partex Group. The company started out as a tobacco trading unit and currently has its presence in multiple industries ranging from steel, furniture, plastics, real estate, foods and beverages, etc. Apart from this, Hashem is the founder of The City Bank and United Commercial Bank, two of the biggest private banks in Bangladesh.

5.Ahmed Akbar Sobhan
Founder and Chairman of Bashundhara Group, Sobhan is counted among the most dynamic Bangladeshi businessmen. With assets worth more than $500 million, his company deals in multiple avenues including steel products, LP Gas, real estate, cement manufacturing, paper and allied products, shopping complex, and local and international trading.

6.Ragib Ali
A pioneer tea-planter with assets worth $250 million, Ragib Ali is the Chairman of Sylhet Tea Company Ltd. 7.Tarique Rahman
Inheriting a fair amount of riches from his father Ziaur Rahman, Tarique is the Senior Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Coming from a line of political figures, his father has been a President while his mother was the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Though his assets are valued at $1.5 billion, he has been charged for illegal money methods by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

8.Iqbal Ahmed
One of the richest men in the United Kingdom, Ahmed is one of the most successful Bangladesh-born entrepreneurs. The success of Seamark and Ibco, both his companies, have earned him good fortune. While the former processes frozen foods, latter is associated with the supplier domain of catering trade. Apart from his assets worth $300 million, Iqbal Ahmed is the owner of Vermillion, a Thai restaurant bar.

9.Shafiul Islam Kamal
Kamal is the Chairman of Navana Group, one of the biggest conglomerates of Bangladesh. The companies of Navana Group include Navana Electronics Ltd, Navana Textile Ltd, Navana Logistics Ltd, etc. Under Kamal, Navana has made a name for itself in the transport sector as well. His assets are valued at approximately $280 million.

10.Azam J. Chowdhury
A renowned golfer, Chowdhury is the owner and Chairman of East Coast Group. He is counted among the most successful businessmen of Bangladesh due to his substantial contributions in various sectors including LPG, banks, telecommunication, etc. His immense experience and vision has earned him the Director’s position in multiple organizations with assets net worth around $430 million.
