10 Things to Know About Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

New Samsung’s flagship smartphones – Galaxy S7 Edge and S7 - have finally been launched in India for Rs 56, 900 and 48, 900 respectively. These two much awaited smartphone will be available from March 18.

The Galaxy S7 devices appear to be an incremental upgrade when compared to their predecessors – S6. Here are the 10 Things to Know About Samsung Galaxy S7 that we found.

  1. Metal Design and 3D glass – Galaxy S7 features a similar metal and glass design. If you haven’t used any of S6 models, S7 will be a delight to hold and touch. Even with 5+ inch screen, these phones can easily be used with one hand.
  2. Display – Both Galaxy S7 Edge and S7 carry a Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a remarkable resolution of 2560×1440 pixels
  3. Useful Edge screen – Samsung have more meaning to S7’s edge screen this time. Now it offers brilliant multi-tasking with option of adding more apps to it.
  4. Liquid Cooling – Heating issues have been a big problem faced by smartphone manufacturers. To counter these issues for better performance, Samsung has introduced liquid cooling in these two devices.
  5. Exynos Chipset – Both flagship devices in India will be equipped with Exynos 8890 chipset instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Soc. Only 32GB internal storage will be available in the country.
  6. Hybrid microSD card slot – Both Galaxy S7 devices will have an extendable memory (up to 200GB). There are two slots in which users can either run two nano-SIMs or one memory card with one SIM card.
  7. Improved Battery – Both devices support fast wireless charging. Battery of S7 Edge (3, 000mAh) is slightly more powerful than that of S7 (3, 600mAh) due to its larger size.
  8. Waterproofing – Samsung used a similar waterproofing technology that was used in Sony Xperia phones. The capless waterproofing makes S7 devices water and dust proof. Samsung stated that they can be immersed in water for 30 minutes.
  9. Premium Camera – Camera of these two smartphones offer better low-light images as they use Canon’s Dual Pixel technology. Samsung has also introduced motion panoramic photos.
  10. Free Gear VR – Samsung announced that customers who pre-order S7 or S7 Edge between 8 Mar and 17 Mar will be given a Gear VR headset (worth Rs 8, 200) for free.
